Atari VCS 800 models ship with 8GB of upgradable SoDIMM memory. Atari VCS 400 models will ship with 4GB of upgradable SoDIMM memory.

Is the Atari VCS customizable?

Yes. The Atari VCS is highly customizable, especially in Atari VCS PC Mode. You will be able to upgrade the hardware, customize your gaming experience and make the system your own.

What is PC Mode?

“PC Mode” opens up the full PC architecture of the Atari VCS so users can install a 2nd OS like Windows, Ubuntu or Chrome, and use apps like Steam (etc.) to play AAA games, retro emulators and essentially have a full PC to do anything you want.

If you preorder from AtariVCS.com or any of our retail partners, expected ship dates start in Fall 2020.
If you preordered on Indiegogo.com, we plan to start shipping products in Fall 2020.

Where do I find it? Is it available in the EU and other countries?

The Atari VCS is currently only available in the USA for online pre-orders on AtariVCS.com, Walmart.com and GameStop.com. Additional retailers and international availability is to be announced.

How do I create games and apps and sell them in the Atari VCS Storefront?

In order to create games and apps and publish to the Atari VCS storefront you must first join the Atari VCS Developer Program.

Most games for the Atari 2600 came on cartridges, as the 2600 was one of the first gaming consoles. These cartridges have been converted for PC to files with .BIN, .ROM or .A26 extension and can only be run with an emulator like the one mentioned below.
